Process Description
The Odomatic system converts ambient air into a wide range of strong oxidizers. When added to a foul air stream, odour-causing compounds degrade through a process known as advanced oxidation. This has been proven to be more reliable, affordable and effective than competing systems.

Activated Carbon for Hydrogen Sulfide Removal
Our pelletized activated carbon with enhanced catalytic properties helps in converting hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in the air into sulfuric acid. Under certain conditions, the carbon is washable & regenerable with potable or irrigation water in situ. This operation can be done 6 to 10 times, before replacing the carbon media . The bed-life, depending on the load, is more than 5 years (sometimes up to 10 years).
Conventional activated carbon odour treatment methods can be ineffective, costly, hazardous, and unsustainable. These existing carbon systems can often be retrofitted to utilize OxyGen's Water-Regenerable Carbon.

From start to finish, we handle the design and supply of the complete odour control system. We also offer automation options that include the following items: H2S sensors Differential pressure sensors PLC control and/or SCADA communication prefilter, removal of liquid droplets or other pretreatment solutions if required

Control of Sewer Caused Odour
Odours and corrosion problems in sanitary sewers, particularly those which are attributed to H2S, are a common problem which plague many communities.
The underlying process is as follows:
- Under the anaerobic (oxygen-free) conditions that are typically experienced in sewers, sulfate is utilized by sulfur reducing bacteria which make up the biofilm at the bottom of sewers pipes.
- H2S is produced by the biofilm as a by-product and is dissolved into the wastewater.
- H2S can than diffuse from the liquid phase and enter the headspace of the pipe as a gas, which can then contribute to odours experienced when released from the sewer system.
- Corrosion is caused when sulphur oxidizing bacteria, living in the sewer utilize the H2S and produce sulfuric acid as a by-product, degrading concrete and metals.
Depending on site specific parameters, OxyGen can provide systems that halt H2S generation or convert it once it has been formed to protect your systems from corrosion and your residents from odours.

An OxyGen Leachate Treatment System was installed at a municple Landfill site in the Georgian Bay area to remove H2S from the leachate before disposal to resolve numerous odour complaints. The system treats 60,000L/d and has been in operation since 2020. OxyGen is under contract to provide rental equipment and full operation and maintenance service (24/7).
